Amy’s Kitchen Success at the FreeFrom Food Awards 2014!

A fantastic night at the prestigious FreeFrom Food Awards concluded with well-deserved wins for Amy’s Kitchen.  The awards celebrate the best foods on the market that are free from ingredients, such as wheat, gluten, dairy, eggs, yeast, nuts or soya, that trouble so many food allergy and intolerance sufferers.

Broccoli Cheddar Bake

Amy’s Kitchen Broccoli and Cheddar Bake won the Pasta and Pizza category, impressing the judges who said the dish was ‘Visually appealing, lovely taste and texture – a very, very good product’. They were so impressed by the gluten-free pasta dish, they awarded it runner up Winner of the FAIR Trophy for the best free-from food 2014.

This wholesome gluten free dish, with it’s rich, creamy, aged cheddar sauce layered over rice pasta and crunchy broccoli and finished off with gluten free toasted bread crumbs, giving each mouthful added bite and flavour, is the ultimate free-from comfort food. At Amy's Kitchen, free from gluten, does not mean free from flavour! Available from Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, Ocado, Whole Foods and independent health food stores nationwide RRP £3.49.

Thai Red Curry

Amy’s Kitchen Thai Red Curry was also awarded highly commended in the Meat-Free Ready Meals category, and was applauded as a ‘good naturally free-from product… and great that it is gluten and dairy free.’

Containing a delicious blend of finely cut vegetables, including sautéed onions, broccoli, carrots and butternut squash, slowly cooked in authentic spices and coconut milk, served with fragrant Jasmine rice and toppped with tofu, this delicious, all-natural dish is the perfect weeknight meal. Counting as one of your 5-a-day, as well as being suitable for vegetarians, vegans (the first widely available, 100% vegan ready meal in the UK) and free from gluten, wheat and dairy, it’s a treat everyone can enjoy! Available from Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda, Waitrose, Ocado, Whole Foods and independent health food stores nationwide RRP £3.49.

Commenting on the awards, Gary Mesiano, UK Sales Controller at Amy’s Kitchen said: “We are delighted to have been announced as the Winner of the Pizza & Pasta category for our Gluten Free Broccoli Cheddar Bake and Highly Commended for our Thai Red Curry at the Free From Food Awards 2014. It is testament to the quality of our great tasting products and fantastic to gain the brand recognition within the thriving Free From Food industry.”

About Amy’s Kitchen
Amy’s Kitchen was started by husband and wife team Andy and Rachel Berliner in 1988, borne out of their commitment to creating great tasting vegetarian food. With a passion for creating delicious and convenient homemade meals that can be enjoyed by everyone, Amy’s Kitchen has rapidly established itself as one of the top vegetarian and ‘freefrom’ food brands in the UK and is more widely available than ever, with more delicious ranges on the horizon. This innovation, particularly in freefrom products, is hugely important to Amy’s Kitchen – as foods aimed at the Coeliac community used to be of much lower quality but, as a result of increased investment in freefrom, this has really turned a corner, with Amy’s Kitchen ‘gourmet quality’ products available to suit all dietary needs. All products in the Amy’s Kitchen range come from family inspired recipes, often handed down through the generations, and are still made by hand they way they would be in a home kitchen.

About the FreeFrom Food Awards
The FreeFrom Food Awards have been instrumental in driving new product development and improving the quality and choice of freefrom foods that are available, and the products on the list this year highlight this success. Judging was therefore incredibly difficult but at the same time incredibly satisfying too.

The judging panel comprised: manufacturers, chefs and cookery writers; dieticians and nutritionists; coeliacs and allergy sufferers, as well as freefrom and gluten-free bloggers. Between them, the judges tasted products from 16 categories including a number of new ones for 2014 such as breakfast and after dinner foods.

Michelle Berriedale-Johnson, who launched the awards in 2008, said “The quality, and number, of products entered this year was higher than ever which made judging extremely exciting. The freefrom industry has come a long way since we first launched the awards and that was evident from the choice of innovative and great tasting foods we got to judge this year. We’d like to congratulate Amy’s Kitchen and all the winners and runners up.”
